Bolorunduro, who made the disclosure on Tuesday in Osogbo at a press conference, said that officials of labour unions in the civil service would determine the number of workers that would benefit from the loan.

He said the officials would also manage the account where the loan is domiciled and its disbursement.

Bolorunduro said that N1.2 billion would be needed to pay the first batch of beneficiaries of the loan, and that N1.4 billion had been reserved for payment of the second batch of beneficiaries.

He said more than N1.8 billion would be set aside for the third batch of beneficiaries, adding that the government would pay N20 million into the account every month.

In their responses, Mr Saka Adesiyan, the state chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, and Mr Olatunji Oladele, Chairman, Trade Union Congress, lauded the government for considering the welfare of the state’s workforce.

The labour leaders said it was the first time such huge sum of money was being allocated as car refurbishing loan for workers in the state. (NAN)
