The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Hope Ajuzie, 30, and Mathew Unuegbu, 41, are facing a charge of assault before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, both of whom reside at Egbe Ikotun, a Lagos suburb, were arraigned on Jan. 18, 2011 before Magistrate Motolani Ladipo.

They were charged with abducting, assaulting and raping a young woman (names withheld).

They, however, pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties each.

When the trial began, the woman testified in tears that she was abducted, tortured and raped by the accused on Jan.14, 2011.

The woman was led in evidence by the Prosecutor, Insp Peter Nwangwu.

She said that she was approached by Ajuzie at Egbe Bus-Stop in Lagos on Jan. 14,  2011.

She said that Ajuzie pretended to be a stranded foreigner in need of help.

She told the court that Ajuzie lured her into a hotel where he abducted her as she was attempting to locate a place he was looking for.

The woman said that the hotel was located at No. 15, Kodaki St., Egbe Ikotun.

She told the court that Ajuzie and an unidentified man beat her into coma with a wooden chair, and raped her in one of the rooms in the hotel.

She told the court that Ajuzie and the other man boasted that they would  use her body parts for ritual purposes.

She said that Unuegbu watched as she was being tortured and soaked in her own blood.

The woman testified that she was released by her captors nine  hours after the abduction.

The court adjourned the case to Jan. 8, 2014 for continuation of evidence by the woman. (NAN)
