The announcement was contained in a statement signed by Mr Bidemi Ladipo, Head of Business Segment, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Ladipo said that the recently held 2013 Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) was aimed at enhancing the success of Nigerian youths and young entrepreneurs.

He stressed the need for Nigerian business owners to seek access to the right business information to excel in their vocations.

“At Etisalat, we have been relentless in supporting initiatives that go a long way in assisting young people to achieve their dreams.

“One of the initiatives we have used to help develop businesses is the ‘Market Access’, which is in partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).

“Others are our Etisalat ‘Easybusiness package’, which helps Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to communicate at a reduced cost and our recently launched promo called ‘Easybusiness millionaire hunt,” Oladipo said.

He said that the millionaire hunt promo would provide opportunity for people with great business ideas to win as much as N2million.

According to him, the telecommunications firm is satisfied with the impact the GEW trainings has had on the young entrepreneurs.

The Deputy Director of EDC, Ms. Nneka Okekearu, also expressed satisfaction with the improved level of GEW in 2013.

Okekearu said that over eight events had been held with 50 local partners in the last three years since Nigeria joined the international event.

She said that more than 1.5 million persons had participated at the events held in Lagos and Calabar.

“It has become very obvious that our contributions to the Global Entrepreneurship are beginning to pay off,” the deputy director said.

Okekerau also commended Etisalat Nigeria for partnering the university for the 2013 GEW edition. (NAN)
