Jigawa govt. approves N204m to upgrade health institutions


jigawa-stateThe Jigawa Government has approved contracts worth N203.9 million for the upgrade of health institutions across the state.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Haruna Wakili, made this known on Wednesday, while speaking with newsmen in Dutse after the State Executive Council meeting.

Wakili said that the contracts included the purchase of N54.5-million equipment for the Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital, Dutse, while N61.5 million would be used for the construction of a perimeter fence for the School of Health Technology, Jahun.

He said that N27.2 million would be spent on the construction of a 40-bed ward in Jahun General Hospital.

He also said that N23.8 million was set aside for the renovation and upgrade of the maternity unit of Gumel General Hospital.

Wakili also said that the contracts included the renovation of the ophthalmic unit and the construction of perimeter fence for medical doctors’ quarters in Gumel General Hospital.

He said that ophthalmic equipment would also be procured for the General Hospital, Babura.

He pledged the commitment of Gov. Sule Lamido’s administration toward the provision of quality health services to the people of the state. (NAN)
