The Chairman of the chapter, Mr Osondu Ohaeri, made the call at a news conference on Tuesday in Abuja.

Ohaeri said that such centres would assist the commission in meeting the December, 2014 deadline set by President Goodluck Jonathan to capture all eligible Nigerians into a central database.

He assured that the institute would continue to play leading role in educating the public on government programmes, including the ongoing registration which he said would help in national planning.

“As Public Relations practitioners, we need to take the lead in educating Nigerians; we want to set the pace for others to take a cue.’’

Ohaeri said that the chapter’s 2013 annual meeting scheduled for Wednesday would also be used to educate members on the importance of the registration.

According to him, the theme of the meeting is: “Redefining Nigeria: the Role the Public Relations’’. (NAN)
