Ngige is placing a distant third behind Chief Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Comrade Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but is expected to leap to the second position after today’s rescheduled election in 65 units of Obosi Ward 7, Idemmili North LGA, which is regarded as part of his stronghold but where voting had to be postponed due to late arrival of materials.

Governor Obi, according to his spokesman Valentine Obienyem, has called Senator Ngige to explain why everybody needs to support the winner of the election.

According to Obienyem in a Facebook update this morning, “In line with his pacifist tendency, Gov. Peter Obi called Dr. Chris Ngige on phone this morning to explain to him why, for the sake of Anambra State, everybody needs to support the winner of the election. He particularly asked him to reflect about Anambra State and the need to avoid protracted court action since the election was evidently free and fair.

“Surprisingly, Ngige said he was owing a lot and that the only condition that will stop him from going to court was if he would be paid back the 3.21 Billion he spent in prosecuting the election.”
