The council said the amount was also approved for the construction of an ultra modern lodge for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Abba Daguro, made this known at the end of the executive council meeting in Kirikasamma.

Daguro said that the council approved more than N26 million for the construction of the NYSC lodge at Tarabu village.

He said that a N14 million contract was also approved for the electrification of Barmuguwa community, while over N2.4 million was provided to facilitate payment of promotion allowances to teachers in the area.

According to him, the council had adopted effective measures to ensure completion of the projects by the end of the year.

The chairman said  that the council had also awarded a N20 million contract for construction of a 500-seat capacity town hall, women centre and electrification of additional villages in the area.

Daguro, however, said that the amount would only cover the first phase of the women centre and conference hall projects.

He urged residents to protect water, schools, clinics and other public facilities provided by the government in the communities. (NAN)
