Transactions close lower on NSE

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the All-Share Index lost 176.25 points or 0.46 per cent to close lower at 37,772.86 against 37,949.11 achieved on Wednesday.

The market capitalisation declined by N57 billion or 0.47 per cent to close at N12.067 trillion compared with N12.124 trillion posted on Wednesday due to price loss.

A breakdown of the price movement chart indicated that Nestle lost N31 to lead the losers’ chart to close at N1,129 per share.

Dangote Cement dropped N3.25 to close at N185, while Nigerian Breweries dipped by N3 to close at N170 per share.

Guinness lost N2.10 to close at N233.01, while UACN depreciated by 50k to close at N63.50 per share.

On the other hand, ConOil topped the gainers’ table, gaining N7.05 to close at N76 per share.

MRS Oil came second with N4.42 to close at N47.63, while Lafarge Wapco garnered N2 to close at N106 per share.

Total and Oando gained N1.09 and 55k each to close at N162 and N11.65 per share, respectively.

In all, the volume of shares traded declined by 4.46 per cent with a total of 278.73 million shares worth N2.93 billion traded in 4,358 deals.

This was in contrast to the 291.73 million shares valuedat  N3.33 billion traded in 4,695 deals on Wednesday.

Transcorp emerged the most traded equity, accounting for 37.18 million shares worth N122.39 million.

Unity Bank posted a turnover of 27.20 million shares valued at N13.85 million, while Zenith Bank sold 22.53 million shares worth N479.62 million.

Oando came fourth on the activity chart with 20.34 million shares valuedat  N235.24 million, while investors staked N136.34 million on 19.19 million shares of Diamond Bank. (NAN)
