The governor made the disclosure in Lafia while inspecting the site earmarked for one of the hospitals.

Al-Makura, who said that the three hospitals would gulp N2 billion, appreciated the cooperation of the owners of the land and assured them that government would compensate them adequately.

According to him, the new ultra-modern hospitals will ease congestion at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia.

He said the project would be executed in collaboration with an Austrian company, noting that the state government would provide the funds, while the expatriates would provide the equipment.

“Even though the company from Austria is not the one footing the bill for the construction, the work must meet international standard.

“The ultra-modern hospitals will have all the necessary attachments units like the ENT Section, the Eye Section, etc.

“Lafia town alone is big enough to have two specialist hospitals. So, we are not replacing the old hospital but we are building another one.’’

Dr Emmanuel Akabe, the Commissioner for Health, said each of the new hospitals would have 160 beds.

He said “the paediatric units of the hospitals will have their own outpatient ward, same with medicine, the ENT and other units. So they all will have different outpatient wards to ease congestion.’’  (NAN)
