The Commissioner for Rural Development, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto on Wednesday.

Maigwandu said that the government had mobilised the contractor to commence work at the site, to ensure the completion of the project before the end of December.

“The gesture of the state government is sequel to a request by the Block Makers Association in the state, submitted to the ministry.

“It was instantly approved by Gov. Aliyu Wamakko, to facilitate the activities of the members of the association.”

Maigwandu said that the association was crucial to the socio-economic development of the state, adding:”It greatly helps in complementing the sustained efforts of the state government to further reduce unemployment and poverty, and their unpalatable consequences”. ( NAN)
