This was resolved when the Academic Staff Union of Universities met yesterday, Thursday to consider the offer by the Federal Government.

We gathered that the public universities’ lecturers met in the nine zones of ASUU with branch chairmen to discuss the offer of President Jonathan, where they discussed at length.

The Ibadan zone of ASUU held its meeting at the Federal University Abeokuta on Thursday while that of the North Central Zone took place at the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State.

Although union officials still complain about their N400bn per year they asked wasn’t granted however, they were happy about how open the President was about the strike, even for agreeing to meet with the union.

Although a consensus is yet to be reached, sources hinted that there’s hope of the strike being called off next week.
