Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! This, it said, would warrant a nationwide power rationing to end on Saturday.
The firm, in a statement on Sunday, explained that the drop in power generation was as a result of maintenance work on a Shell Petroleum Development Company’s gas plant.
Nationwide power generation had peaked at 3,696MW on Thursday.
The TCN said, “There will be a reduction in generation output by 400MW from Monday, November 4 to Saturday, November 9, 2013.
“This is due to the SPDC’s scheduled maintenance work on the Okoloma gas plant supplying gas to the Afam VI power plant, thereby leading to the shutdown of the power plant, resulting in nationwide power rationing.”
It added, “The maintenance work on the Okoloma gas plant by the SPDC is important to guarantee continuous and uninterrupted supply of gas to the Afam VI for power generation into the national grid.
“The TCN sincerely regrets inconveniences the six-day power rationing will cause the Federal Government and our highly esteemed electricity consumers nationwide, and assures that the maintenance work is in line with the present administration’s efforts to improve power supply in the country.”
