As the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State draws closer, the Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) in the state has received more decampees from the United Progressive Party (UPP), who have pledged to support the governorship ambition of Mr. Godwin Ezeemo.
The decampees numbering about 198, all from Orumba South Local Government Area of the state, said they were rooting for Mr. Ezeemo because of his democratic credentials and his uncommon philanthropy and love for the down-trodden in the society in his capacity as an individual.
“We have profiled all the candidates in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election and came to the inevitable conclusion that it is only Mr. Godwin Ezeemo who has no dent in his life. We also firmly believe that he is the only one who can take Anambra to the desired level and that is why we have thrown our strength and weight behind him,” said Engr. Charles Chukwudike, Chairman of UPP in Orumba South.
“If Mr. Godwin Ezeemo in his personal capacity can provide jobs, pay school fees for indigent students and provide succour to the poor, then I wonder what he will do when he eventually becomes the governor,” he added.
While receiving the decampees on behalf of the Godwin Ezeemo Campaign Organization (GECO), Mr. Lukeman Nnuekwe, the Zonal Director of Old Aguata Union in the organization, welcomed them to the fold, promising that every one of them would be carried along in the effort to ensure that Mr. Godwin Ezeemo becomes the next governor of Anambra State.
This is not the first time that the PPA has received people from other political parties since Ezeemo joined the party after he was rigged out of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries. Earlier, Hon. Pat Orjiakor had led the first set who joined Ezeemo in the PPA. Orjiakor was the legacy Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) before the party merged with other parties to form APC.
