The Chairman of the board, Rev. Jonathan Edewor, gave the commendation on Wednesday in Asaba, when members of the board visited Prof Patrick Mouboghare, the state’s Commissioner for Education (Basic and Secondary).

Edewor said that the return of the schools to their owners had helped in raising the standard of education and ensuring discipline in the schools.

The Anglican Bishop of Oleh Diocese promised that the board would not disappoint the state in managing the schools returned to the church.

It will be recalled that the Delta Government in 2012, handed over 12 schools to the Anglican Church and some others to other missionaries.

The chairman also told Mouboghare that they visited him to rejoice with him for surviving an assassination attempt on him by some gunmen few months ago.

He urged him not to be dampened by the attack, in his efforts to transform primary and secondary education in the state.

The commissioner was attacked in Ughelli by some suspects, who are now standing trial in Asaba for attempted murder.

The commissioner gave an assurance that he would remain steadfast in his efforts to sanitise the school system.

Mouboghare commended the board for the commencement of academic programmes in schools, in spite of many challenges.

He thanked the board members for the visit, stressing that their concern and prayers since the attack were clear manifestations of their true love for him.
