PDP Moves To Stop Uncompromising Journalists From Exposing Its Activities

PDP_logo_1The leadership of the Bamanga Tukur faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has begun subtle moves to stop some journalists from covering its activities.

In pursuit of that objective, its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, met with two friendly reporters (name withheld) separately with whom he discussed ways of achieving the party’s aims, including accrediting reporters covering the party.

Metuh met with one of the reporters at his Prince and Princess Estate in Abuja on October 1 at which he complained that some reporters now cover the activities of the new faction of the party, New PDP, than they do the PDP.

In addition, he threatened to dismantle the small cubicle within the secretariat where the journalists sit to file their reports.  The cubicle, which also houses the computer section of the party, was donated to the party by Prince Tonye Princewill.

If that fails, Metuh promised to get across to friendly Bureau Chiefs and News Editors with the idea of having them post some of the ‘critical’ reporters away from the PDP beat.

It would be recalled that several months ago, before he was sidelined from the party before returning for his current stint as National Publicity Secretary, Metuh met with Abuja Bureau Chiefs and pleaded with them to remove some reporters from the beat.

He had complained bitterly to the editors that some of the reporters had refused to be compromised despite his reputed appeals to them.
