Tin-Can Island Customs generates N23bn revenue

tin-canThe Tin-Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service says it generated N23.3 billion in September from the N23.6 billion it realised in August.

The Area Comptroller of the Command, Jibrin Alkali, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.

Alkali said that the September revenue figure was lower due to the volume of goods that arrived at the command.

He said that the revenue was derived from duties and five per cent value added tax on brown rice and wheat flour.

Other levies are on sugar, iron, wheat grain and revenue from the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS). (NAN)
