Lagos Crash: Segun Agagun’s corpse and others killed


A plane  carrying the corpse of former Ondo State Governor, Segun Agagu, crash-landed near the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, shortly after take off.

An eyewitness confirmed that the crash occured at the local wing of the airport close to the section where JET-A1, Plane fuel were stored.

Fire service officials were seen evacuating the occupants of the plane.

The plane was said to be carrying late Segun Agagu’s corpse and twenty other family members to Akure, Ondo for burial rites in his hometown

Another source revealed that Agagun’s wife, his first son and Chief Olu Falae’s first Son, Deji Falaye also were among the dead

Meanwhile the spokesman of the Nigeria aviation agencies, Yakubu Datti, asked for more time to get details of the incident.

But another official, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, said the crashed plane belonged to Associated Airlines, and was just about to take off when the accident occurred.

The plane, our FAAN source said, was on its way to Akure.

An Embraer aircraft operated by Associated Airlines with Reg No SCD 361 enroute Akure from the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, crashed shortly after take-off at about 9.30 am local time. The plane had 20 passengers and 7 crew members on board.

Emergency rescue operations commenced immediately by a combined team of Fire Service and security personnel . Some persons pulled out from the aircraft have been rushed to the hospital while a few dead bodies have been recovered, The rescue operations is still on-going.
