No fewer than 792 council workers in Ekiti State may lose their September salary over allegation of absenteeism and abscondment from work.
The state Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Ranti Adebisi, gave the indication during an interview with journalists in his office on Wednesday.
He said the figure represented those who were not at their duty posts when the task force, inaugurated by the state government to authenticate the number of council workers in the 16 LGs of the state visited their offices.
Adebisi, who dismissed the rumour that the affected workers would be sacked, said, “There is no truth in the rumour that this commission is about to sack 800 council workers.”
