The move was to enable Onwuka to realise his aim of joining other investors to acquire one of the three banks owned by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

According to an online newswire, the development followed a letter of resignation addressed to Mustafa Chike-Obi, managing director, AMCON, where he was said to have referred to his earlier declaration of interest with a group of investors who intends to acquire AMCON’s shares in the three intervened banks including Enterprise Bank Ltd.

“In order to avoid any potential conflict of interest in the transaction and to protect the credibility of the process, I am resigning my position as director and chairman of the board effective October 1, 2013,” the statement said.
