John Obi Mikel has admitted that if Chelsea continue to perform the way they have been then they can lose to anyone.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The Blues have lost their last three matches in all competitions, with their latest defeat coming in a surprise 2-1 loss at home to FC Basel in the Champions League.
Jose Mourinho even claimed he was unsure wether his side had the character to comeback from their recent poor form, and Mikel has had his say on the Blues’ recent results.
Speaking to reporters, he said: “If we play the way we did here, we have a chance of losing to anyone we play.
“We go back to training now and must look at the things we have done wrong and try to put it right. It was really, really bad – a very bad result for us. We knew the kind of team we were playing against. We knew how good they are on the ball and what they can do.
“The manager spoke about how we had to put them under pressure from the first half, the first minute so they don’t have a chance to win here.
“But we didn’t do any of that. It’s disappointing for us and also to our fans. The way we lost the game. Coming from another defeat at Everton we wanted to use this game to put things right but we didn’t do that. Individually, we didn’t turn up. The next Champions League game we have to put ourselves in the position of qualifying from this group.
However, the Nigerian has challenged the Blues side to put things right and doesn’t believe the squad should be intimidated by anyone they face.
He continued by saying: “With the players we have, the calibre of players, I don’t think we should be afraid of anyone. But we have to put things right.
“That process may need to start up front, where Chelsea are struggling for goals and Samuel Eto’o looked ineffective against Basle.”
Mourinho’s side take on Fulham this weekend and will be desperate to get back to winning ways by securing all three points at Stamford Bridge and Mikel will be hoping for a starting berth in Mourinho’s side.
