According to the THEWILL, Northerners are being attacked in Onitsha, Anambra State by Igbos in what appears to resemble reprisal attacks following the killing of many Igbos in the north by the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
An eyewitness told THEWILL that he saw a mob manhandling several Hausas residing in the city, saying the assault has spread into Asaba, targeting Hausas residing at the Hausa quarters in the Delta State capital.
One source who was driving into Onitsha from Asaba on Thursday afternoon at about 1.38pm local time, said he was accosted at the Onitsha end of the Niger Bridge by a mob because he looked like a northerner, but when he spoke Igbo to them he was told to make a u-turn and return to Asaba, but another man on a motorcycle who was Hausa was not so lucky as the mob attacked him. It is not clear whether he was killed.
There is panic in the two cities.
