Taraba First lady empowers 663 women, youth graduants of skills acquisition

Worried by the trend of unemployment and over dependence on government for survival, the wife of the Taraba state governor, Barrister Anna Darius Ishaku, through her Hope Afresh Foundation, yesterday empowered no fewer than 663 graduants of skills acquisitions.

The graduants who were drawn from the entire sixteen local governments councils and the two Development areas in the state, as observed by our reporter went through three months intensive training on hair dressing, tailoring, computer appreciations, makeup and headgear, baking and catering, cosmetic production, a,one others.

The First Lady who did not only equipped the graduants with the requisite knowledge but also made available to them all the needed working tools that would enhance their entrepreneurship skills said the training was made possible by her foundation ( Hope Afresh Foundation) with support from the development partners whom she said ” contributed to the achievements of the foundation.”

Ishaku who noted that her foundation had so far trained about 6,342 trainees within the last three years said the dream of the foundation is to mitigate the increasing rate of unemployment among the teaming youths of the state.

Stressing that each of the graduants will automatically become self dependent and self supporting to start their individual businesses ” as they will also be benefiting from start-up packages” the exercise as stated by her ” will easily make them not just self-employed, but employer of labor who would be able to put food on other people’s table by providing job, thereby fighting poverty and hunger .”

Urging them to jealously guard their start-up packs and used ” them for the purposes intended” the trainees, she noticed by her have an opportunity to make a difference in their lives and that of others by creating jobs ” for yourselves and others.”

The foundation, she said is willing to partner with any group or individual willing to contribute to the women and youths empowerment and to the rapid growth of the state.

Certain that the trainees would judiciously, their are use of the skills acquired, the foundation as stated by her will continue to give priority to skills acquisition training towards ” self-reliance , improved economic status of the people and bringing to their barest minimum poverty and idleness in the society.”

Elated by the development, some of the beneficiary noted that the training and the start-up packs would go along way to discourage them from embarking in missions that are detrimental to their lives and the society at large.
