Ashafa Seeks Re-Election, Hails Tinubu On Direct Primaries


Lagos – Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Gbenga Ashafa has officially declared his intention to seek reelection to seek another term in the Senate.

Speaking with newsmen on Monday, Ashafa, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Land Transport indicated he would be running for another term in the Senate on the platform of the ruling party in the state, All Progressives Congress (APC).

Popularly called ‘King of Boys’ among his constituents, Ashafa who has been representing the senatorial district since 2011 said he decided to seek reelection “after wide and extensive consultations with party leaders and members of his senatorial district who have all given him their blessings”.

The lawmaker who said his vast experience in the upper legislative chamber will count for him said members of his senatorial district have also pledged to pick up the nomination form on his behalf.

He also expressed confidence in his achievements as a senator both in legislative activities and the siting of meaningful projects in his constituency.
