Ngige moves to resolve NPC Workers, DG Crisis

Abuja – Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Productivity may have waded into the crisis rocking the National Population Commission (NPC) over the reappointment of Ismaila Ghanji Bello, as director general of the commission.

Protesting civil service union had on Tuesday sealed up the offices of the agency vowing not to allow Bello return there after what they claimed was a disastrous first four-year-term.

President Muhammadu Buhari had recently reappointed Bello for a second tenure.

The angry workers had last week locked up the DG in his office for hours before embarking on a total shut down of all operations at its headquarters.

But president of the union, Rita Agaba, Wednesday disclosed that Dr Ngige had summoned a meeting of all stakeholders for 3 p.m. to address issues raised by the union.
