Sheriff Mulade was yesterday honoured in a brief, but colourful event, with an award by the entire Ijaw community in Lagos. Led by His Royal Majesty (HRM), Pere Egedagu Julius Lion, the Egeni Pere II, the Olotu 1 of Ijaws, Lagos State and the entire community stated that they decided to honour him with the award because of his superlative performance in being the voice of the voiceless in the Niger Delta region. The group also explained that Comr. Mulade has succeeded within the shortest time frame in distinguishing himself from others in the Niger Delta that has been masquerading as activists in the region.

According to Pere Lion, Comr. Mulade has also singled himself out in the areas of provision and promotion of education in the Niger Delta region; preaching of peace, promotion of environmental best practice and voice of the Niger Delta region at the federal level and the international stage. In his words, “Comr. Mulade Sheriff’s activities have become so visible that we now hear of his activities in the Niger Delta here in Lagos.” His Royal Majesty prayed for God’s wisdom and protection upon Comr. Mulade whom he described as a man with a good heart. Speaking in the same vein, High Chief Monday Jerry, the Traditional Prime Minister of the Ijaws in Lagos stressed that this day for the Ijaws is a remarkable one.

Mulade, the environmental activists further explained that he is providing education as well as sponsor students because of his belief that with education one can get to any level in life. The Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) boss finally thanked the Pere and the entire Ijaw community for the honour while promising that this award will definitely spur him into more action. In a related development, the event witnessed different side attractions which include but not limited to different cultural displays. At the event were the; High Chief R. A. Ekpe, the Ibegbemowei of Ijaws, Lagos State; Chief Binaebi Torunarigha Arunanaowei of Agegunle, Lagos State and other dignitaries.
