Equities trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) relapsed to a negative territory on Friday as the All Share Index (ASI) depreciated by 0.44 per cent.
The ASI dropped by 158.95 points to close at 35,957.24 points, while the market capitalisation grew by N54.8bn to close the trading week at N12.393 trillion.
The day’s trading activities ended with Betaglass leading the day’s 22 losers with a depreciation of 5 per cent to close at N56.85 per share, Presco Plc dropped 4.99 per cent to close at N64.98 per share while Red Star Express declined 4.57 per cent to close at N4.59. Jaiz Bank fell 4.05 per cent to close at 71 kobo per share and Okomuoil depreciated 4.02 per cent to close at N63 per share
On the other hand, Unilever Nigeria Plc led 18 gainers by 5.12 per cent, to close at N40 per share, it was followed by Nigerian Aviation Handling Company which appreciated 4.89 per cent to close at N3.22 per share while Berger added 4.29 per cent to close at N7.30 per share. Dangote Sugar gained 3.70 per cent to close at 14 per share and AIICO gained 3.51 per cent to close at 59 kobo per share.
The total volume of shares traded by investors in 4,079 deals stood at 152.5 million units of shares worth N3.1 billion. This is in contrast to 222.7million units valued at N4.2 billion traded in 4,622 deals on Thursday.
Guaranty emerged the most traded stock with 22.2 million units sold at N864.1 million, Zenith Bank was next with the sale of 21.8 million units of shares valued at N517.3 million. Access Bank was third with the sale of 15.6 million shares worth N150.8 million, Wapco sold 11.5 million shares at N611.8 million while UACN sold 8.8 million shares worth N128.3 million Source: WorldStage Newsonline
