In the suit filed by his lawyers, Ballason’s Chambers, at the Federal High Court, Abuja, Maikori prayed the court to enforce his fundamental rights against undue harassment and intimidation by the Kaduna state government, the state governor and the Nigeria police.

The suit came up for hearing before the trial judge, John Tsoho on Tuesdayday.

Maikori, a native of Southern Kaduna, had been at the forefront of an advocacy to bring attention to the killings in the area.

He was arrested by the police on charges of incitement based on a petition by the Kaduna state government attributed to his false tweet of killings in a town in Southern Kaduna.

He later retracted the statement and apologised when he discovered it was false.
