Buhari fit to contest 2019 elections – Presidency

Despite deteriorating health condition of President Buhari, the cabals within the presidency on Monday insisted that the ailing President is fit to run for second term in 2019.

Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters, Alhaji Abdulrahman Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila, stated this in a chat with newsmen in Kano.

Sumaila noted that it was a normal thing for an aged person like Buhari to fall sick.

Sumaila said only competent medical experts could ascertain whether the president was fit or not to run for the seat come 2019.

According to him, the issue of president’s health status was not a new thing, adding that many things had been said about his health condition since the very first time he contested for president in 2003.

“I am confident that President Buhari will recover and continue to steer the affairs of this country to complete his first tenure and re-contest for the second one in 2019,” he said.

On reports that former Kano state governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso may contest again for presidency in 2019, Sumaila said Buhari would be waiting for whoever is eyeing the position.

“Kwankwaso has contested alongside Buhari in the 2015 presidential election and he had seen the consequences of his action. So, let him try it again,” he said.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday jetted out of the country to London for medical check-up and treatment after handing over to Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.
