Barrel chested Go Round FC defender, Chile Azu has explained why he left the club to Ikorodu United as well as reasons for his return.

Azu, famous for his long throw ins said during the week that he wanted a taste of Premier League football after staying too long in the lower division.

“I really wanted Premier League experience so I left to join Ikorodu United.

There was no disagreement between me and my team, I just told them I would love to explore new territory and that was why I was released to FC Ikorodu United last season,” Chile Azu said.

However, his Premier League experience lasted just one season as he has returned to Go Round FC in the Nigeria National League after Ikorodu United suffered relegation.

When I returned I believed I came back with something different so the players know I have been in the Premier League and we can work together to make it happen.

By God’s grace we will play top division football next season,” Azu enthused.

He admitted that he has noticed a big difference between the Go Round FC team of two seasons ago and the one he met on his return.

There is a big difference between the Go Round team I see now and the one I left two seasons ago.

Even the coaches have upped their game. The boys train with more vigour and we believe we have all it takes.

We have had a good start in the league. In fact, I believe it’s the best start in the history of this club so hopefully, we can maintain the tempo and play in the NPFL next season.”

Go Round FC are currently 2nd on the Nigeria National League, NNL Southern Conference table with 16 points from 8 matches played.
