Ooni launches Ifeprenuership Summit in Osun

The Ooni Of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi II, has urged Nigerian youths to wake up and stop being job seekers but job creators if unemployment is to be reduced.

The Ooni gave the admonition at the opening ceremony of the Ifeprenuership Summit, holding in Osun State.

All speakers at the event stressed that entrepreneurship was the only way out of the menace of youth joblessness in the Nigeria.

Tagged Ife Youths Economic Summit, the event was held at the Oba Okunade Sijaude Hall, Enuwa in Ile Ife.

All the speakers further agreed that capacity Building and ‎identifying the needs of the people and the environment were major factors of production needed to interplay with capital before one could have a successful business.

The hall of the Oba Okunade Sijuwade was filled to capacity, with Youths both young and old and officials of the Bank of Industry.

Senator Babajide Omoworare, and the Ooni of Ife were some of the guest speakers.

Blame Of Unemployment

The event was convened ‎with the aim of empowering prospective entrepreneurs on the ingredients required for success in any business venture and how to access funding.

Speaking on the theme” Building Entrepreneurship Competency and Self-Reliance Among Ife Youths,” the ‎Chief Executive Officer of the Bank Of Industry, Mr Waheed Olagunju, told the youths that although capital was one of the factors required to establish a business, capacity building and knowledge of the need of the people were needed to sustains any investment.

Other Speakers, Senator Babajide Omoworare and Felix Faniran, also said there was the need for the youths to stop putting the blame of unemployment on the government and seek ways of becoming employers of labour.

The organisers of the summit hope that the two week programme, when completed by the participants, would be utilised to generate more jobs and reduce the number of youths on the street seeking ‎job when they could actually create and sustain jobs.
