NSE index plummet 0.14% as AIICO, Flourmill, PZ add weight

nse-screenEquity transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) resumed the week on a negative note as the All-Share Index depreciated 0.14 per cent, losing 40.87 points to close at 29,136.85 points compared with 269.23 points lost last Friday to close at 29,177.72 points.

The market capitalization also dropped N14.05 billion to close at N10.013 trillion compared to N92.5 billion lost last Friday to close at N10.027 trillion.

Price movement on the Equity board showed that AIICO Insurance Plc led 11 gainers with a 4.71 per cent or 4 kobo gain to close at 89 kobo per share, followed by Flourmill Nigeria Plc which added 4.21 per cent or 89 kobo to close at N22.05 per share, while PZ Cussons Plc increased 4.13 per cent or 99 kobo to close at N24.99 per share.

Berger Paints Plc appreciated 3.38 per cent or 33 kobo to close at N10.10 per share, while Air Service Plc grew 3.31 per cent or 6 kobo to close at N1.87 per share.

Conversely, Trans-national Express Plc led 27 equity losers with a loss of 7.89 per cent or 9 kobo to close at N1.05 per share, followed by Livestock Plc which lost 5.00 per cent or 8 kobo to close at N1.52 per share, while Unilever Plc dropped 4.99 per cent or N1.93 to close at N36.75 per share.

UACN Plc lost 4.98 per cent or N1.32 to close at N25.16 per share while Union Bank Nigeria Plc dropped 4.83 per cent or 28 kobo to close at N5.52 per share.

In all, a total of 308.1 million shares worth N2.967 billion were exchanged by investors in 2,886 deals compared with 206.02 million shares worth N3.4 billion exchanged last Friday by investors in 2,773 deals.
