The Council of Entrepreneurs for Africa (COEFA) on Tuesday in Abuja said it would collaborate with the Federal Government to build capacity in Science, Technology and Innovation in Nigeria.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!COEFA Chairman, Mrs Sandra Iroakazi, said this during an official signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology (FMST) and COEFA, Canada, on the Development of Science and Technology in Nigeria.
According to her, areas of cooperation will include human capacity, development and training; materials and technology acquisition and transfer;
“Others are renewable energy efficiency technologies; environment that involves protection, pollution reduction, climate change, water and green technologies,
“Adding value programme including waste-to-wealth, sustainable poverty alleviation and job creation initiative; strategy, innovation, policies, guidelines, awareness creation comprises development, review, adoption, monitoring mechanism and methodologies,“ she said.
Others, she said, were waste management for residential, e-waste, health and farm waste on separation, transportation, treatment and recycling.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of FMST, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, noted that Nigeria had many products synthesised by Nigeria Scientists, which needed to be upgraded to meet international standard.
Oyo-Ita appealed to COEFA to assist Nigeria in the area of capacity building, modern equipment that would ensure qualitatively and quantitatively output of Nigerian scientists.
Prof. Sunday Thomas, Director, Sheda Science and Technology Complex (SHESTCO), stated that the Nigerians would be grateful if COEFA could take up cancer drugs the complex recently discovered. (NAN)
