The Portuguese airlines TAP which had earlier promised to resume its flights to Bissau on 28 October, has decided to postpone them to an undisclosed date, citing security reasons.
In a statement issued Wednesday in Bissau, TAP underlines that despite the will of the Bissau Guinean Interior minister to see the Portuguese airlines flights serve his country, it is compelled to defer once more the resumption of the services.
TAP will however observe a 40-day period to assess again whether the security conditions allow it to resume flights to the post-crisis country.
The Portugal-based airlines had cancelled its flights to Bissau on 10 December 2013 following the forced embarkation of 74 Syrian citizens by the transitional authorities while on their way to Lisbon.
Since TAP’s move, the air connections to and from Bissau are conducted by Royal Air Maroc and Senegal Airlines.
